July 18, 2011

It’s almost been a year since I’ve moved to Providence. I can’t believe how quickly time has flown. I remember every other post a year ago was like, “IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW, I’LL BE MOVING TO PROVIDENCE TO THE FALL.” I was waaaay excited then, and I actually still am now. Today, I realized I’ve never really shown you all around my new city, aside from the visual drift photos from my Design class. So, here is a view of the city from one of my favorite quiet spots, Prospect Park.

It won’t ever not be strange to me that downtown is literally a 5 minute walk down a hill from where I live…and that where I live, college hill, is literally that–a hill with a couple colleges a couple blocks away from each other. That feels so quaint and old-fashioned to me!

While I went on my little walk, here are some photos I snatched of my outfit!

This was actually the first time I took self-portraits in a completely public place at a super public hour, so it was a little weird. People stared at me, but I didn’t even care! Haha.

I also wore my American Apparel bow, which barely gets to see the light. It works best in my hair when its straight :)

Floral button-down top: Vintage
Maxi skirt: American Apparel
Mini skirt: H&M
Bow: American Apparel
Bag: American Apparel
Shoes: Dolce Vita

Also, my new surprise should be coming in tomorrow! I’m SO excited! :) I’ll show you pictures tomorrow!

You look lovely, and so does Providence! I’ve always thought RI seemed like a charming state. It was fun to get a glimpse of what it’s like where you live.

And the most public place I’ve ever taken self-portraits was in my backyard when my neighbors were out – and we have a fence and lots of trees, so that’s not saying much. They still managed to stare, though. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go to a genuinely public place for outfit pictures, haha.

Awww, thanks Casee :) PVD is SUCH a nice place. Lots of historic buildings all around. I’m definitely going to share more photos of those in the future!

That’s HILARIOUS about your neighbors! So nosy of them! I was totally a backyard kinda gal before I came her. Now I don’t have one so I have to use the rest of the world as my backyard, hahaha.

These pictures of Providence are really cool. I’ve never been, but I’ve had friends who visited and the loved it. So brave of you to take self-portraits in public, I’m definitely not at that level yet! I love your American Apparel bow and maxi skirt :)

Also, I’m having my one-year blog birthday giveaway right now and I would love it if you entered! =)

I’d say take a visit if you were still in CT, but NY is a little far and almost not worth it, lol. We’re almost TOO quaint and quiet for fun, haha!

Thank you very much!

I’ll definitely check your giveaway out! I tried tof ollow via Google Friend Connect, but it’s not working right now for me :( I’ll try on my personal computer when I get back home!

you got the skirt! what a lovely shot of downtown. I agree with you about how quaint it all is. You go girl.

Perhaps we should do a photoshoot on Friday? Bonus points for ‘in an equally public place’, with a dash of ‘I don’t give a fuck’ and a sprinkle of ‘Nous sommes artistes!’ …yeah.

Melanie July 19, 2011 at 12:56 am

I did! I love it so much <3 Also, good news from Nora at AA. I'll share with you on Friday :) Speaking of which…I DON'T have the night off :( But curfew is at midnight, so we have until then to do whateva we want. I have ALL of next weekend off though, so we will make ze best of it :) Photoshoots galore, mmhmm? I like this challenge you're setting up…definitely works for me :)
