Black on Black Mani

(Witness my gracefully chunked out skin due to a mail-opening incident at work…)

So, I’ve wanted to try this for a little while and I finally made it happen! Using American Apparel’s “Hassid” as my base, I used Essie’s “Matte About You” as my matte top coat. I needed a little guideline help so I picked up some french manicure guideline stickers from CVS, and I finally found a bottle of Seche Vite’s quick dry top coat. It works magic. My nails were dry to the touch really quickly, and all the way through in about 15 minutes. It definitely helped speed up the process as you shouldn’t apply the stickers to still wet nails.

How do you feel about the black-on-black? And crazy concoctions you’ve stirred up lately?

Gorgeous! I love, love, love Essie’s matte coat, but I accidentally didn’t close mine all the way so it got trashed. I need to replace it, and then I need to try this. (:

Get a new one, pronto! Isn’t the top coat amazing? I’m so grateful such a thing exists, so that I don’t need to buy matte duplicates of each color, lol. I can’t wait to see you try it out :)

I love the way your nails turned out! It’s dark but chic and therefore totally fun!

Thank you, Jen! I’m not so big on black nails (that was so 8th grade…hah!) but this was a nice way to make it more mature :)
