Obvilux

June 19, 2011

It has officially been one week since the online shopping community ObviLux launched, and I’ve had so much fun! Basically, it’s an online wardrobe that you add clothes to from stores that you love! From there, you can create outfit sets that incorporate the items that you or other users “luxed”. The whole idea is to be able to share clothes with others, as you may already do with some friends personally or on Facebook. This just assembles it into a really cool, user-friendly community.

The community has what they call, “Store Ambassadors.” What that is exactly is the user who has luxed the most items from an individual store. Whoever maintains the most points from that store stays the Store Ambassador so long as they keep that up. The Store Ambassadors with the most points are hoped to be rewarded with items from that store.

Here is a video where you can get the complete low down:

Intro to ObviLux (official alpha) from ObviLux on Vimeo.

ObviLux was created by a group of design students. I’m a complete advocate for college-level entrepreneurship and I think its great that these students were able to come up with this concept. If you’re interested in being a part of the community, click here to register.

I’ve been luxing up a storm on the site and I’m currently the store ambassador for American Apparel. (It actually somehow split up into two stores: American Apparel and store.americanapparel.net and I’m amabassador for both.) You can find me under the username “thosethingstheysaid”. :)

It’s still in Alpha, so there are some quirks, but it’s still fun to create the wardrobe. And yeah! Dream-following is the greatest :)
